Innovation tender oversubscribed fourfold for the second time

The eleventh “innovation tender,” which took place on September 1, was once again oversubscribed fourfold, as was the previous one (250710). As announced by the Federal Network Agency on October 8, there were a total of 163 bids for the advertised volume of 486 MW, amounting to 2,182 MW. Of these, only 33 bids with a total bid volume of 490 MW were accepted. As usual, the awards were made exclusively to combinations of solar power plants and storage facilities, although the tender design basically allows for all renewable power generation technologies. The only condition is that the combinations must be either renewables with storage facilities or different renewable technologies.

The bid values of the successful bids ranged from 4.79 cents/kWh to 5.59 cents/kWh. At 5.31 cents/kWh, the average volume-weighted bid value was significantly below both the maximum value of 9.00 cents/kWh and the value of 6.15 cents/kWh in the previous round.

The largest volumes were awarded to bids for sites in Bavaria (122 MW, 11 awards), followed by significantly lower volumes for sites in Schleswig-Holstein (54 MW, two awards) and Brandenburg (51 MW, two awards).

No bids for biomethane for the sixth time

In contrast, the 8th tender for biomethane plants, which took place in parallel, received no bids for the sixth time (250609). As a result, no contracts could be awarded. The next round of tenders for biomethane plants will take place on April 1, 2026. The next innovation tender will be held on May 1, 2026.
